Toronto Zoo Interactive Signage
CALL Program Songbird Interactive Signage
Americas Volunteer Interactive Station Re-Design
I redesigned the volunteer station at America’s Zoo Pavilion, transforming it into a cohesive and engaging educational space. Precise measurements were essential, as the backing structures and windows required custom-fit vinyl graphics. The application process was slow and meticulous to avoid bubbles and ensure a clean finish. I collaborated closely with the Learning and Education team to align the design with their programming goals, using animal silhouettes to unify the visuals and maintain consistency. To tie it all together, I used the zoo’s signature geographical green, ensuring the new design complemented existing signage throughout the pavilion.
This project was based on a concept submitted by a CALL program student and brought to life through collaboration with the Toronto Zoo’s Exhibit Design team. I refined the original idea, enhancing the design while preserving the student’s creative vision. The final product is an interactive ‘mix-and-match’ sign that educates guests about Ontario’s songbirds. Forest elements from the surrounding habitat were incorporated to ground the artwork in its environment, and the final design balances educational engagement with professional presentation.
Sizing and proportion were essential considerations, as the boards the artwork was mounted on were already cut. I ensured the layout and illustrations were optimized to fit precisely within these constraints while maintaining visual clarity and interactivity.
