Viridian Outdoors & Interactive Retail Station
This long-term cumulative project involved brand creation and implication, adapting brand guidelines to a retail interactive station, manipulating existing code, learning new and advancing technology in a retail environment.
The re-branded retail installation consists of four elements: The rotating product app, which uses gesture control technology to initiate videos and graphics, the touchscreen ordering app, a kiosk merchandise customization station, the motion graphics and QR code station, where your phone can change videos based on a code, and the interactive catalogue station, where objects and light sensors trigger catalogue-based graphics. These four elements function as an interactive retail installation, one that is now re-branded to “Viridian Outdoors”, from the formal “Sweetgrass Outdoors”.
The main objective of the re-branded retail installation is to successfully transition the installation under a new brand- while maintaining consistency and visual interest. Another main objective is to use the re-branded visuals to create ease of use and an intuitive experience for anyone who interacts with the installation.
The main challenge that appeared multiple times throughout the whole re-branding process was ensuring all the files and documents connected properly and keeping all my assets organized. Often there would be a back and forth not only between adobe programs, but files and even projects- so maintaining organization is key. Another challenge was problem solving code issues that would arise through not only the console in google chrome, but through closely inspecting the code and trying to find any inconsistencies or errors.
