Toronto Zoo’s 50th Anniversary Signs

Footprint Revival

Toronto Zoo's nostalgic and iconic footprints, with a few new additions!  The 1974 Toronto Zoo footprints were brought back to life with 3 newly designed footprints to reflect the zoo's ongoing developments for the 50th anniversary.

The project progressed from initial client meetings and concept sketches to digital vector artwork created in Adobe Illustrator. I then prepared production-ready stencil files, which were used to fabricate metal stencils. This was followed by careful colour selection and paint matching. Finally, I helped plan the footprint layout and monitored the installation process to ensure accurate stencil application. One large sign at the main entrance of the zoo was used to commemorate and re-introduce the footprints to guests.

Animal Species Badges

Since this was such a commemorative event, it was integral that the process and ideation was thorough. Many versions went through rounds edits to finally reach the final version to accompany all the animals which have had their own species at the Toronto Zoo since it's opening. Branding was exemplified as the zoo map region was incorporated into the badges as a ribbon colour-theme.
